THE VALLEY OF KINGS

Although Serbia has for centuries been the scene of frequent wars, devastation, fires and mass-migrations, on the turbulent roads leading from East to Europe and from Europe to East, a rich cultural and historical legacy has remained there. The rich variety of historical monuments and sites of natural beauty make Serbia a country of great interest for tourism and very much part of its attraction.

Beside Egypt and France, Serbia has its Valley of Kings, too. In the valley of the Ibar River, from Kraljevo, through Raska to Novi Pazar, where the Serbian state was founded, there are monasteries that were proudly built by Serbian kings. This area that has a special place in the history of Serbia is valley of river Ibar. The picture of the priceless historical significance of The Valleys of Kings are complemented by the monasteries Gradac, Studenica, Sopocani, the Church of the Holy  Apostles Peter and Paul, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1986, as well as the monastery of Zica in which seven Serbian kings were crowned and which was the first seat of the Serbian Archbishop.

DAY 1 / BELGRADE

Meet and assist at Belgrade Airport. Belgrade panoramic tour. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and has a population of around 2 million. It is situated in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has since ancient times been an important focal point for traffic, an intersection of the roads of Eastern and Western Europe. Belgrade is the capital of Serbian culture, education, science and economy. We will Visit the House of Flowers (former Yugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito`s memorial house. We will be approaching to Belgrade- Mostar crossroads and from there passes Belgrade area – Dedinje. Panoramic tour of The White palace in Dedinje district. The White Palace was commissioned by command of King Alexander I with his private funds as the residence for his sons Crown Prince Peter (the future King Peter II), Prince Tomislav and Prince Andrej. After Royal Palace we pass near biggest stadiums in Eastern Europe. Continuing the tour, we find a beautiful park known as Karadjordje’s park and St. Sava’s Temple, it is the biggest orthodox temple in the Balkans.  Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 2 / ZICA MONASTERY - STUDENICA MONASTERY - NOVI PAZAR

Breakfast at the hotel. Free time for individual activities. Transfer to the „Nikola Tesla“ airport. End of services.

DAY 3 / MONASTERY SOPOCANI - DJURDJEVI STUPOVI - TOPOLA - BELGRADE

Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the guide and bus at the hotel and departure to monastery Sopocani from 13th century, which was built by King Uros I Nemanjic, and expanded and renovated his great grandson Dusan at the middle of the 14th century. Visit monastery Djurdjevi Stupovi built by Stefan Nemanja in 12th century, whose frescoes are a real masterpiece. Nemanja raised this church in gratitude to St. Nicholas, who had escaped him from the prison where his brothers had imprisoned him. The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, it was founded in the 4th century during Roman rule while additions were made in the 7th and 9th centuries, after which it served as the ecclesiastical seat of the Serbian church, and as the baptismal church and state council site of the Nemanjic dynasty, until the last years of the 12th century. It is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul. Monastery Gradac , It was built in the second half of the 13th century, as the founding of Queen Jelena Anzujska, the wife of King Uros I, who was buried here in 1314. Departure to Topola and Oplenac. Visit to the Karadjordjevic Complex at hill of Oplenac which includes: Church of St. George, Peter`s house – mausoleum of family Karadjordjevic, Karadjordje City, St Georges Church. Arriving to Belgrade. Check in the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 4 / BELGRADE

Breakfast at the hotel . Departure to Postojna cave. Lunch .  Tour of Postojna cave and Predjama Castle . Postojna cave is the largest and arguably the most beautiful cave of the classical Karst. And visit of  Predjama castle is built into a high cliff and definitely the most remarkable castle in Slovenia. Check in hotel dinner and overnight.
