Heritage of eastern SERBIA
Serbia has for centuries been the scene of frequent wars, devastation, fires and mass-migrations, on the turbulent roads leading from East to Europe and from Europe to East, a rich cultural and historical legacy has remained there. The rich variety of historical monuments and sites of natural beauty make Serbia a country of great interest for tourism and very much part of its attraction.
The architecture of the Serbian medieval monasteries shows a diversity. During the 13th and 14th centuries, representative churches were built, in which proportions, decorative facade and sculpture, the Romanesque influence is felt (classified in the Raska building school).
After 1371, a special architectural style of the Moravian construction school began, with polychrome facades and decorative plastics, which developed in the Morava Valley. One of these is the Ravanica monastery.
Medieval monasteries and churches are not only parts of Serbia, but also parts of the Serbian soul, but also some painters’ galleries. Frescoes and icons from Serbian churches are significantly mild in the cultural and historical heritage of Serbia.
